ST. GEORGE – A man who robbed the Wal-Mart in Bloomington Friday may have been caught in Mesquite, Nevada.
Prior to 11 a.m, St. George Police were alerted to a theft at Wal-Mart in Bloomington involving a man who took a cash register from the garden center after distracting employees, St. George Police Sgt. Tyler Cowan said Friday evening.
The case also appears to involve a stolen vehicle, he said.
That vehicle may have been taken to Mesquite following the incident at Wal-Mart.
Mesquite Police reported they had taken a man into custody who was driving a car reported stolen out of St. George, Cowan said.
Mesquite Police Officer Quinn Averett confirmed that officers arrested a man Friday following the robbery of a dry cleaning business but he was unable to confirm if the suspect is the same person wanted in St. George for the Wal-Mart incident.
A pair of St. George Police detectives was sent to Mesquite to interview the man Mesquite Police apprehended, Cowan said. More information about the suspect and his possible connection to the St. George case is expected to be released later.
Persons arrested or charged are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law or as otherwise decided by a trier-of-fact.
